What does Abingdon Drama Club do?
We perform three main shows each year plus a pantomime every other year. We perform a huge variety of different plays. Look at our
archive section to find out more. We also stage one act plays and take part in local drama festivals. We have social events and
acting workshops every month plus play readings and theatre trips.
The club also runs three youth drama groups:
Juniors (11-13),
Advanced Juniors (14-15) and
Acting Up (16+).
Do I have to audition?
You do not need to audition to get into the club. Once you have paid your membership fee you can take
part in any ADC event and can audition for every ADC show. Every member
must audition for each show they want to be in. You do not have to be
a long term member to get a main part. Most ADC shows have at least
one brand new member in the cast, often in large or even leading roles.
You don't need to have experience. If you are enthusiastic, committed
and right for the part you can be cast even if it is the first time
you have ever turned up.
What if I don't want to go on stage?
If you would like to do a backstage or
technical job, all you need to do is express an interest.
No experience is necessary.
Training will be available if you want to try something you have never done before. You can also take part in our social activities and theatre workshops without ever having to be on the stage.
Why should I join?
ADC has a very friendly family atmosphere. New members quickly become part of the family. Our aim is to produce the best possible theatre whilst having a huge amount of fun.
